6 With what shall I come before the Lord and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?
7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of olive oil?
Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” Micah 6:6-8.
I have reflected on these verses all my life, and they have had a powerful influence in my life. Please consider all of these verses, especially the specific context in which these verses appears. You see, do we not all wonder what we can possibly give back to the Lord for the life, the mercy, and the love our Lord, Jesus Christ, has bestowed on us all? And the answer, as Micah shows us above, is not stuff, or things, or our tithes, or even our Sunday worship of the Lord.
The most important thing we can give the Lord — in fact the one thing He requires of us so much — is this, and only this:
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God!
So would you join me today and reflect in prayer just what this means for YOU!?
Christmas requires this of us. Christmas demands this of us all. Take time this Advent to figure this out. Ask the Lord these days of Advent and give Him time to show you!
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
