“You will again obey the Lord and follow all his commands I am giving you today. Then the Lord your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The Lord will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your ancestors, if you obey the Lord your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law (The Pentateuch/ The Torah) and turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul” 2 Chronicles 30: 8-10.
To live is to obey the Lord and follow all His commands. Obedience is simply humility. To obey God is to do everything He tells us to do, putting behind you all that you think you want to do — and all that others tell you to do. Humility is act of complete trust in God. It is a prayer that He may increase in your life, and you may decrease. It is totally reliance on the wishes and commands of God. You humble yourself before Almighty God and His commands. It is to live life.
God has a plan for our lives — for each of us — and it is a plan for our welfare and not for our harm, to give us a future filled with hope. We sometimes spend years searching for and wondering about God’s plan for us. We whine about God’s silence, and sometimes walk away from any further consideration of mGod and His plan for us, because we do not know Him and cannot hear His voice in our life. But the text below lays it all our for us with simple clarity. We are to OBEY Christ and FOLLOW Him and all of His commands — and THEN we shall see His plan for us unfold before us with unsurpassed clarity. We will still have trouble in our lives — that is guaranteed (see John 16:33). But if we want to live the best life possible, which is the life God has planned for us, we must OBEY Christ and FOLLOW Christ.
Let us pray: Oh dear Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner. Oh Lord, pull me from my stupid thinking, and grace me to follow You and obey Your every command. Let me know how loving and supportive Your commandments are in my life. Let me take into my heart these most comforting words from you: “Obey the Lord and follow all My commands I am giving you today, and then I, the Lord your God, will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb” (2 Chronicles 30:8). Oh what promises! Oh what grace! That if I would just obey You and follow all Your commands, you will bless me and my children. May Your Kingdom come and your will be done on earth in my life as it is done in heaven. In Your Name, Jesus, I pray, Amen.
