...in Christ alone...

ree

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 16 for in Him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers — all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17 He himself is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. 18 He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He might come to have first place in everything. 19 For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through Him God was pleased to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of His cross” Colossians 1:15-20.

We saw in Paul’s Letter to the Philippians 2 a most beautiful Hymn to Christ. Today Paul gives us another Holy Spirit-inspired Hymn to Christ. Consider what Paul is telling us about Jesus Christ:

= In Christ, God is no longer invisible — but eternally visible!

= In Christ, the world was created!

= Christ has always been eternal, and Christ alone possesses all power.

= Through Christ all things were created, and all things were created for Christ!

= Nothing lives apart from Christ!

= The Christian church exists through Christ!

= Christ is the first ever to have risen from the dead,

and in fact, Christ is the first in everything He created!

= In Christ, God lives, and through Christ, everything was forgiven and reconciled, giving the world God’s peace through the death of Christ on the Cross!

So join the apostle Paul in rejoicing in Christ! Give thanks for who He is and all He has done for you and for all of heaven and earth!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner!
