“2 I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 Yes, and I ask you also, my loyal companion, help these women, for they have struggled beside me in the work of the gospel, together with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you” Philippians 4:2-9.
Paul writes to two prominent women in the Christian church in the Greek city of Philippi. They were engaged in a disagreement to which Paul advised them “to let it go!” And Paul gives them advice we all should live by: “5 The Lord is near. 6 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” versus 5 & 6.
Today, dear friends, whatever you are worrying about, remember that you are not alone. Give it to God, instead! You see, the Lord is near you. He knows what you are struggling with! Give it to Him. Tell the Lord, “I can’t handle this on my own. I need you!” Tell God this because God is near you, closer to you than you could ever imagine!
So let this be our prayer today!
Today’s Prayer
Oh Lord, I am stuck!
I am struggling with something that is beyond my reach!
Something out of my control!
Something I cannot cure or fix or change.
Lord, I need You!
Lord, please take away my fear, my worry!
And instead, help me to see that You are close.
Help me to see that You are not ashamed of me or disappointed in me.
Help me!
This is my humble prayer to You today!
And it is through you, Jesus Christ, that I pray!
Amen!
