...no cheating...

ree

Not long ago I spoke with someone who came so close to death with huge amounts of cancer inside her body.  But miraculously she got better and went into remission.  She then began to live life again without looking over her shoulder at the possibility of dying from cancer, until she realized that she became so comfortable living without cancer that she returned back to old useless habits of daily living.  She then made this observation that shook me more than a little: “Having cheated death, I began cheating life.”

How often have we cheated life by our deranged and self-centered focus!

We forget how we have absolutely no control over tomorrow, and yet we squabble over nothing, and we forget everything.  We begin to cheat life again.

Dear friends, I invite you to look at your own life and reflect on the ways in which you too may be cheating life.  Pray.  Pray that the Lord will give you His Spirit to live life as He gives it to you every day.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

From the Bible:

“Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” Matthew 16:24.

“Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in His steps”

1 Peter 2:21.

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” John 8:12.

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life”

1 Corinthians 11:1-2.
