“1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the parent loves the child. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For the love of God is this, that we obey his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, 4 for whatever is born of God conquers the world. And this is the victory that conquers the world, our faith. 5 Who is it that conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God”
1 John 5:1-5?
Here John continues to speak of love, and faith or belief is what conquers the world, and whoever loves, believes. You and I know that we have the kind of love that God has for everyone, “when we love God and obey His commandments” (verse 2). So today, consider the 10 commandments of God. bring them to prayer and obey them — all of them, every day, and for the love of God!
1. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me.
2. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
3. You shall not bow down or worship another god; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and fourth generation of those who reject me, but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments. So you will keep the Lord’s day holy.
4. You shall honor your father and mother.
5. You shall not murder.
6. Neither shall you commit adultery.
7. Neither shall you steal.
8. Neither shall you bear false witness against your neighbor.
9. Neither shall you covet your neighbor’s wife.
10. Neither shall you desire your neighbor’s house, or field, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
