“9 For this reason, since the day we heard it, we have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you may lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, as you bear fruit in every good work and as you grow in the knowledge of God. 11 May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience, while joyfully 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” Colossians 1:9-14.
Today we continue some reflections about Paul’s Letter to the Colossians, and I must say how really touched I am by Paul’s comment: “We have not ceased praying” verse 9. If there is anything in life worth doing every day, it is praying. Praying unceasingly is the key to building a life-long, intimate, relationship with the Lord. So, whenever the thought comes into your mind to pray — PRAY! Simple expressions, like “I love You, Lord” are simple and easy ways to pray. You may be driving, or walking, or in a meeting. When you have a thought about God, pray simple thoughts of praise and adoration and love to the Lord.
When you think of it, lift up song verses to God, for example. I love these verses from the song, I Love You, Lord!
I Love You, Lord, and I lift my voice
To worship You, Oh, my soul rejoice.
Take joy, my King, in what You hear,
Let it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear!
But it’s Paul’s beautiful prayer in today's verses from Colossians — a prayer for all of us — that we should bring into our hearts this day:
Today’s Prayer
+ May you be filled with the knowledge of God’s will
in all spiritual wisdom and understanding…
+ May you lead lives worthy of the Lord,
fully pleasing to Him, as you bear fruit in every good work
and as you grow in the knowledge of God…
+ May you be made strong with all the strength
that comes from God's glorious power…
+ May you endure everything with patience,
while joyfully giving thanks to the Father,
who has enabled you to share in
the inheritance of the saints in the light…
+ May God rescue us from the power of darkness
and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son,
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins…
Colossians 1:9-14
May this be our prayer this day, amen!
