...pray...pray daily...and watch what God does...

“One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, at three o’clock in the afternoon. And a man lame from birth was being carried in. People would lay him daily at the gate of the temple called the Beautiful Gate so that he could ask for alms from those entering the temple. When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked them for alms. Peter looked intently at him, as did John, and said, ‘Look at us.’ And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, ‘I have no silver or gold, but what I have I give you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, stand up and walk.’ And he took him by the right hand and raised him up; and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. Jumping up, he stood and began to walk, and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. All the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 and they recognized him as the one who used to sit and ask for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him” Acts 3:1-10.

We often have no idea what can happen to us when we remain in daily prayer. It is so instructive to see Peter, the Rock, and John, the Beloved, heading on into the temple to pray, as they did daily. Can we not all see their their priorities in life? Oh that you and I would have such daily priorities! I say this because we all ought to take a look at what happens to those who prioritize daily prayer in life — the Holy Spirit fills them with a lifetime of surprises every day, surprises that fill them sometimes even with an abundance of the Holy Spirit’s gift of healing!

What a difference comes to our life when we pray daily, instead of putting it off later.

Dear friends, take time today — and every day — to give yourselves in quiet prayer. It’s not — IF — BUT IN WHAT WAYS God will change your life personally and intimately when we follow the example of Peter. In John 14:6 Jesus says, “No one comes to the Father but through Me.” God will change out life episodically because every time we pray, it is Jesus Christ Himself who draws us to pray. And THAT is the grace, the reason why daily prayer changes us!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
