...STAY WITH THE LORD!...

“27 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron, and said to them, ‘This time I have sinned; the Lord is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong. 28 Pray to the Lord! Enough of God’s thunder and hail! I will let you go; you need stay no longer.’ 29 Moses said to him, ‘As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will stretch out my hands to the Lord; the thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail, so that you may know that the earth is the Lord’s. 30 But as for you and your officials, I know that you do not yet fear the Lord God.’ 31 (Now the flax and the barley were ruined, for the barley was in the ear and the flax was in bud. 32 But the wheat and the spelt were not ruined, for they are late in coming up.) 33 So Moses left Pharaoh, went out of the city, and stretched out his hands to the Lord; then the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain no longer poured down on the earth. 34 But when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunder had ceased, he sinned once more and hardened his heart, he and his officials. 35 So the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he would not let the Israelites go, just as the Lord had spoken through Moses” Exodus 9:27-35.

When we go through a very tough time in our life we sometimes promise God everything, in hope that He will get us through the tough time. Unfortunately, we are just fallible human beings, and when we feel better, we discover that we are easily able to step away from God, relying on our thoughts and companions, instead of God. I can’t telly you how many times in my life I have told God, “I promise…I promise…I promise!” Sadly, my promises have too often been so short-lived.

Friends, when we hurt, we will do just about anything to get God to free us from the pain. And once we are free of the pain, and even sometimes when we are not yet free of the pain, we backslide again! But friends, when you are suffering, please go to God in prayer. Every day. Be honest with God and tell Him that you are hurting and need Him! None of us knows the mind of God, and sometimes it hurst a lot the God’s ways are not our ways.

Please don’t give up on God! Stay with Him even when it makes no sense. Even when it feels awful! Even when you will never understand God’s ways, STAY WITH THE LORD! When people tell you that you are crazy to believe in a God who allows unspeakable suffering, STAY WITH THE LORD! remember that God’s ways are not your ways. TRUST GOD AND DON”T GIVE UP ON GOD!
