...the 10 commandments...

“12 The Lord said to Moses, ‘Come up to me on the mountain, and wait there; and I will give you the tablets of stone, with the law and the commandment, which I have written for their instruction.’ 13 So Moses set out with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up into the mountain of God. 14 To the elders he had said, ‘Wait here for us, until we come to you again; for Aaron and Hur are with you; whoever has a dispute may go to them.’

15 Then Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. 16 The glory of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days; on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the cloud. 17 Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. 18 Moses entered the cloud, and went up on the mountain. Moses was on the mountain for forty days and forty nights” Exodus 24:12-18.

Dear friends, God invited Moses up the mountain with the clear instruction that he would be there a long time (“and stay here”). A special feature of this visit to the top is the promise of receiving the tablets of stone. But notice this: God’s covenant is based on stipulations — rules that must be kept, requirements that if broken would condemn Israel to great pain and misfortune. God thus insisted that Moses understand that he himself had written the commandments “for their instruction.”

So the key to living the Christian life lies in our following the ten commandments. For it is in living faithfully to these commandments of God that God’s grace is poured out into our hearts. The foundation, the key, to living life lies in our graced — or God-blessed — faithfulness to obeying the ten commandments. IT’S AS SIMPLE AND AS ACCESSIBLE AS THAT!

We don’t need a PhD. to follow or understand the ten commandments! This is why Christianity is equally open and accessible to all men and women. There is no prejudice regarding the following of the ten commandments! It is the same for all human beings. JUST DO WHAT THE COMMANDMENTS COMMAND YOU TO DO! All other commandments that your church commands of you must be examined in light of what is written in God’s ten commandments. If you want to follow God, keep the ten commandments. All other religious commandments of whatever church you belong are of secondary importance in comparison to the ten commandments.
