...the God of HOPE...

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” Romans 15:13.

I have mentioned before that when my wife, Linda, was deathly ill from cancer she prayed this verse every day, and the Lord healed her. There are few verses in the Bible that mean so much to Linda and me as this verse. It is so instructive about the meaning of HOPE.

Hope belongs to God which He unselfishly and generously shares with us. This is why He is the “God of HOPE!” And the “God of HOPE” shares His gift of HOPE with each of us so that our hearts may be filled with “all joy and peace” that comes “in believing!” So our HOPE is most definitely linked to our believing, our faith in God! Essentially, to believe is to HOPE, and to HOPE is to believe!

And when we believe in the God of HOPE, we are filled with joy and peace that comes to us by the power of the Holy Spirit. So clearly Christian HOPE is all about God filling us with His Holy Spirit so that we may believe and be filled with all joy and peace.

My prayer for you today is that this verse will inspire you to pray for HOPE, pray for faith, and pray for your heart to be filled with all joy and peace that come to you from the Holy Spirit.

I pray you will see how great a gift is HOPE in your life.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God, and the power of the Holy Spirit be with you this day, through Christ, Our Lord, amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

From the Bible:

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6-7.

“But to all who did receive Him Jesus Christ, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God” John 1:12.

“But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect” 1 Peter 3:15.

“The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words” Romans 8:26.

“Waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ” Titus 2:13.
