...hesed...

1 O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,

for his steadfast love endures for ever.

2 O give thanks to the God of gods,

for his steadfast love endures for ever.

3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords,

for his steadfast love endures for ever” Psalm 136:1-3.

There is a single Hebrew word that is used in this psalm, the word hesed!

It translates into English: the steadfast love of the Lord endures forever.

So in this psalm and in many others, the word hesed simply appears this way:

O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,

hesed.

2 O give thanks to the God of gods,

hesed.

3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords,

hesed.

Hesed is a most beautiful word, describing the Lord in a most beautiful way.

In so many ways this is simply a single word that describes the Lord like no other single word, for the steadfast love of the Lord does, in fact, endure forever.

So today, I invite you to write your own Psalm using the refrain, hesed!

I love you Lord,

hesed.

I give You thanks, Lord,

hesed.

I bow down before you, Lord,

hesed.

I beg You for Your mercy and forgiveness, Lord,

hesed.

I pray for and count on my daily bread, Lord,

hesed.

All praise and honor belongs to you, Lord,

hesed.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

From the Bible:

10 Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet;

righteousness and peace will kiss each other” Psalm 85:10.

“7 O Israel, hope in the Lord!

For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeemPsalm 130:7.

“1 O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;

for his steadfast love endures for ever.

2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,

those he redeemed from trouble

3 and gathered in from the lands,

from the east and from the west,

from the north and from the southPsalm 107:1-3.
