...my HOPE is built on nothing less...

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” Hebrews 11:1.

This is one of the classic statements in the Bible concerning our Christian HOPE. This is an important text because it helps us understand the importance and centrality of Christian HOPE in our lives, despite all of the challenges we face, most especially our own death and the death of those we love dearly.

First of all, consider this truth: We can be most assured of our HOPE in Jesus Christ! We can absolutely count on the truthfulness of everything Jesus is and everything He says He is. We are 100% assured of the truth that everything written about Jesus in the Bible is TRUE! And here in this text above God is telling us that our HOPE in HIM is absolutely assured, because He says it is. HOPE is a gift pf God of which we are assured of.

If you HOPE for all that Christ is and wants and promises for you, you can be 100% assured that all you hope for — IN CHRIST — is what you can count on!

Second of all, this text also assures us that our HOPE is a gift of the Holy Spirit, a gift of the great truths of Jesus Christ and the great truths of our life and death. In other words, all of the great and truthful mysteries of life that we cannot see or have not yet experienced — we can have the complete conviction that they are all true! How can this be true? Because all of these truths come to us through Jesus Christ and the incredible bestowal of His Holy Spirit in our lives. All the promises of Jesus Christ that we cannot fully see or understand are TRUE!

So we can HOPE in these truths with 100% convictions of the truthfulness of our HOPE in them!

Step back and consider what this short text above from Hebrews is telling us. Bring this to prayer today and pray to God for deeper and more sustaining HOPE in HIM!

So what this simple sentence is telling us is that we can have complete assurance and conviction of our HOPE in Christ. The certainty of our HOPE is a rock solid conviction and assurance of the truthfulness of our life and the life of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

Consider the words to the song:

My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less (On Christ The Solid Rock)

by Robert Critchley

My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus' blood and righteousness

My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus' blood and righteousness

My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus' blood and righteousness

My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus' blood and righteousness

I dare not trust the sweetest frame

But wholly lean on Jesus' name

On Christ the solid rock I stand

All other ground is sinking sand

All other ground is sinking sand
