“17 But the steadfast love of YHWH is from everlasting to everlasting
on those who fear him,
and his righteousness to children’s children,
18 to those who keep his covenant
and remember to do his commandments” (103.17–18).
I love Psalms 103 and 104 because they speak of God’s promise to send forth His Holy Spirit to us sinners who have fallen away. Look above at verses 17 & 18 in Psalm 103 that speaks of God’s “steadfast love” that endures forever!
Then look below at Psalm 104 that echoes this return of the steadfast love of God — describing how God sends forth His Holy Spirit so that we will be created once again:
“29 When You hide your face, they are dismayed;
when You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.
30 When You send forth Your spirit (or “breath”),
they are created; and You renew the face of the ground” (104.29–30).
Both of these psalms speak of the shortness of our days and the day when God will take our breath away, and we will die and return to dust. But fear not, God is with us! He sends forth His Holy Spirit.
So today, are we not compelled to pray for the merciful sending forth of God’s Spirit into our hearts? Are we not compelled to pray that God, once again, does not hide his face from us? And this prayer applies to everyone, even kings. In Psalm 136: 17&18 we are reminded that:
“17 God struck down great kings,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
18 and killed famous kings,
for his steadfast love endures forever;” (Psalm 136:17-18).
So today God is telling us that everyone is desperately in need of the “steadfast love of God.” Take this to prayer today, then, asking the Lord for his “steadfast love”. Part that the love of God may be passed along to other in your life, for the “steadfast love of God” is given to all of us so that we can past along to others. god’s gifts and blessings are never meant for us alone. No, they come to us on their way to others.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
From the Bible:
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Let Israel say, “His steadfast love endures forever.” Let the house of Aaron say, “His steadfast love endures forever.” Let those who fear the Lord say, “His steadfast love endures forever.” Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free”
Psalm 118:1-29.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”
Romans 5:8.
“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations” Deuteronomy 7:9.
“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him” 1 John 4:16.
